JOE TRAUGER NAMED HDMA SENIOR DIRECTOR OF
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
ARLINGTON, VA – June 21, 2007 – HDMA is pleased to announce Joe Trauger joined the Association as Senior Director, Federal Government Affairs, effective immediately. In this position, Trauger will lead all HDMA Federal legislative advocacy efforts. Trauger will report directly to Scott Melville, HDMA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs.
“Joe’s extensive Capitol Hill experience and knowledge of healthcare policy will further strengthen HDMA’s efforts to communicate with policymakers about the essential role of primary, full-service distributors in the efficient delivery of safe and effective healthcare products and services,” says Scott Melville. “He will be a strong and effective advocate for our members.”
Most recently, Trauger was a Senior Vice President with the Federalist Group, where he represented healthcare clients of the firm. Previously, he served as a senior-level Congressional staff member in offices in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. His most recent Capitol Hill experience was as Senior Policy Advisor to Minority (then-Majority) Whip Roy Blunt (R.-MO), where he was actively involved in the enactment of the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) of 2003. He also served as a Policy Advisor to then-Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX).
Prior to his House Leadership experience, Trauger was an Associate Director for the American Hospital Association, and he served on the staffs of U.S. Senator Rod Grams (R-MN) and U.S. Representative Sam Johnson (R-TX).
Trauger holds a BA in Political Science from Minnesota State University in Mankato.
