ELIZABETH A. GALLENAGH, ESQ., PROMOTED TO HDMA SENIOR DIRECTOR OF STATE GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

ARLINGTON, VAJune 21, 2007 –HDMA is pleased to announce Elizabeth A. Gallenagh, Esq., has been promoted to Senior Director, State Government Affairs, effective immediately. In this position, Gallenagh leads the association’s legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts in all 50 states. She will report directly to Scott Melville, HDMA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. 

“Liz is the ideal leader of HDMA’s state advocacy efforts, with more than 10 years of comprehensive legislative and regulatory expertise,” said Melville. “She has been with the HDMA Government Affairs office for nearly four years, and she has a deep understanding of the policy issues affecting primary, full-service healthcare distributors, including distributor licensure, pedigree requirements and tax reform.”

In her newly-elevated role, Gallenagh will continue to direct HDMA efforts to improve and strengthen state distributor licensing and pedigree standards, as well as increase awareness of the role that distributors play in ensuring a safe and reliable supply of healthcare products to consumers.

Before joining HDMA, Gallenagh represented rehabilitation/assistive technology providers and durable medical equipment suppliers on issues such as Medicare Part B reimbursement and coverage policy, Medicare provider appeals, competitive bidding, fraud and abuse investigations and federal anti-kickback law at Eastwood & Azia, PLLC, and at Duane, Morris & Heckscher, LLP. Earlier, Gallenagh was the Director of Rehab and Reimbursement for the National Association for Medical Equipment Services (NAMES). Gallenagh began her career with the Securities Industry Association, and later served as Legislative Assistant to Congressman Tom Manton (D- NY).

Gallenagh holds a JD from the George Mason University School of Law and a BA from The George Washington University.
