The Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA) presented its 2008 Innovation for Success (IFS) Awards to distribution company leaders at the Business Partners Exchange, held in Palm Desert, CA. Winners of the prestigious HDMA IFS Awards demonstrate the value of distribution by developing creative and results-oriented programs and processes that benefit the healthcare supply chain, customers and consumers. The 2008 IFS Award winners are:
- Pharmaceutical Category—Sales of More Than $8 Billion: Diane McLean, Director, Supplier Processes, McKesson Corporation
- Pharmaceutical Category—Sales of Less Than $8 Billion: Dennis Harvey, Director, Information Technology, Burlington Drug Company, Inc.

The HDMA Innovation for Success (IFS) Award recognizes distribution company leaders who have developed and championed efficient, flexible and innovative business practices that streamline operations and positively affect healthcare product sales. The prestigious HDMA IFS Award recognizes individual(s) committed to continuous supply chain process improvement. Winners demonstrate the value of distribution by developing creative and results-oriented programs and processes that set the standard for excellence in the healthcare industry by benefiting the supply chain, customers and consumers.
This year HDMA will present three IFS Awards to industry leaders employed by an HDMA Active member distribution company. Winners serve as a model for leadership and innovation in the healthcare marketplace, demonstrating the power of successful trading partner relationships. Winners are nominated and selected by HDMA Associate manufacturer members.
Special Recognition
HDMA formally honored IFS Award winners at the 2008 HDMA Business Partners Exchange, March 16-18, in Palm Desert, CA. All winners received the HDMA IFS Eagle statue. IFS winners also receive:
- Recognition in the HDMA Directory, an online directory of HDMA members
- A feature article in HDMA’s weekly Distribution Digest e-newsletter, distributed to more than 6,000 healthcare industry contacts
- Special mention in an HDMA press release sent to healthcare trade publications
HDMA IFS Award Nomination Guidelines
The HDMA IFS Award honors individual creativity and marketplace innovation, and is a unique opportunity for manufacturers to reward valued distributor trading partners.
To participate, HDMA Associate manufacturer members may nominate individual(s) from an HDMA Active distributor member company in each category. Only HDMA Associate members may nominate individual(s) for this prestigious Award.
The official nomination form for the 2008 HDMA IFS Award can be accessed here (PDF: 138K). For your nominee(s) to be considered, please answer each question on the nomination form, and provide a brief statement on the candidate(s)’ contributions to the healthcare supply chain.
In order to ensure a top-quality group of entrants, please nominate individual(s) who have implemented ground-breaking processes and programs that created measurable business efficiencies for your company and the healthcare industry.
Criteria
The IFS Award honors individual(s) employed by HDMA Active distributor member companies. Nominations should focus on process, programs and procedures initiated or completed in the 2007 calendar year. Nominees may come from any department or hold any job title within the distributor organization. Award winners must excel in one or more of the following areas:
- Implementation of innovative processes, programs and procedures that streamline operations
- Provision of customized support for healthcare products and/or promotional plans
- Contribution/administration of creative distribution support in order to create new business opportunities for manufacturers
- Development of results-oriented policies or programs that achieve distribution, marketing or other business objectives
- Support of manufacturers with valued field market data, thereby allowing manufacturers to improve marketing results
Categories
HDMA will award three IFS Awards at the 2008 Business Partners Exchange; two awards in the Pharmaceutical Products category and one award in the Health & Beauty Care Products category.
IFS Executive Nominating Committee
The IFS Executive Nominating Committee is made up of HDMA manufacturer
(Associate) members and consists of no more than 10 Pharmaceutical members
and 10 consumer members. From all of the nominations submitted the committee
votes on who the finalists will be in each category. At that time, the
finalists are sent out to the entire HDMA Associate membership to vote
