DIANA Awards: Manufacturer Entries

Who can enter?
HDMA invites all Associate Members who manufacture consumer products or pharmaceuticals to submit entries for the DIANA Awards.

To qualify for consideration for this year’s DIANA, your nominated product promotion or introduction must have been sent to healthcare distributors between May 2009 and April 2010.

Multiple entries are allowed.

What kind of awards are handed out?
DIANA awards will be presented at HDMA 2010 Business & Leadership Conference to the manufacturers with the best new product introduction or promotion in the following categories:

1. Over-The-Counter (OTC) Products
Includes products such as antacids, cough or cold products, analgesics, laxatives, eye care, diet aids, natural health products, vitamins, nutritionals and smoking cessation products.

2. Home Healthcare Products
Includes home care products such as pregnancy or ovulation tests, diabetes diagnostics, self diagnostics, first aid products, and foot care products.

3. General Merchandise/Health and Beauty Care
Includes hair care, family planning, feminine hygiene, skin, oral and cosmetic products; deodorants; batteries; and film.

4. Branded Pharmaceutical Products

5. Generic Pharmaceutical Products

6. Biotechnology Pharmaceutical Products
Includes any pharmaceutical product that has as its core clinical basis the use of tissue cultures, living cells or cell enzymes. The final product may or may not require special handling or IM/IV administration.

7. Rx Support Systems, Supplies and Service Products
Includes products such as needles, syringes, prescription vials and containers; creative tools or events; targeted services; or new systems that uniquely benefit the healthcare distribution channel.

What does a winning entry look like?
Judges consider the unique aspects of the product’s introduction or promotion. In completing your application materials, be creative! Stress the ways in which your product launch or promotion improved working relationships or streamlined operations with HDMA distributors. Also consider the ways in which your product positively affected the entire healthcare delivery system.

Think about things such as your product’s:

    1. Sales or market share
    2. Impact on total category sales
    3. Unique sales and marketing tools
    4. Contribution to improved patient care or cost containment
    5. Unique packaging or other features to improve safety and security
    6. Process that streamlined distribution channel operations
    7. Positive impact on waste reduction or the environment

Be sure your bring any other attributes that make your product launch or promotion notable and successful to the judges’ attention. It will make a difference.

Who decides who wins?
DIANA entries are judged by a panel of healthcare distribution thought leaders. Judging results are made available upon request at the conclusion of the 2010 Business & Leadership Conference.
