Who Should Attend
This webinar is open to healthcare distributors, manufacturers and service providers particularly targeting those responsible for EDI, trade, purchasing, operations, finance, customer service, sales analysis and warehousing.
Webinar Overview
Using EDI to accurately and efficiently exchange business transactions (i.e., purchase orders, acknowledgements, ship notices, invoices, etc.) between distributors and manufacturers in the healthcare supply chain is critical. The development and use of voluntary guidelines for specific EDI standards provide industry trading partners with a means to effectively convey the necessary information. HDMA has recently updated four Order-to-Cash Guidelines for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in the Healthcare Product Supply Chain, including the 810 Invoice; 850 Purchase Order; 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgement; and the 856 Ship Notice/Manifest.
In this webinar, you will hear from manufacturer and distributor trading partners about the real-world application of this data through EDI, and learn more about the newest updates made to the HDMA guidelines, including the inclusion of the GTIN® (Global Trade Item Number®) and GLN (Global Location Number) identifiers from GS1 US. Learn how an additional packaging level (for inner pack) and codes for the GS1 US Electronic Product Code™ (EPC) were added to facilitate serialization in the 856 Ship Notice/Manifest.
Presenters from the HDMA eCommerce Task Force will walk through the complex business examples detailed in the guidelines and take questions from the audience about future implementations or use cases.
This informative webinar is especially designed to:
- Better understand how to leverage EDI data to streamline the order-to-cash process.
- Discuss data exchange methods and strategies.
- Review recent revisions to the EDI order-to-cash transaction sets (810, 850, 855, 856) and frequently asked questions.
- Examine current trends surrounding data exchange between supply chain trading partners.
- Share the steps being taken to address the remaining business challenges and hear real-world, practical case studies.

EDI Guidelines For Order-to-Cash (810, 850, 855, 856) in the Healthcare Product Supply Chain (Electronic Download)
(2011) Developed by HDMA’s eCommerce Task Force, these guidelines include four EDI transaction sets that support the order-to-cash cycle: the 810 Invoice; 850 Purchase Order; 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgement; and the 856 Ship Notice/Manifest. In this release, GTIN® (Global Trade Item Number®) and GLN (Global Location Number) identifiers from GS1 US have been incorporated into all transaction sets, as well as various other clarifying codes or usage notes. In the 856 Ship Notice/Manifest, an additional packaging level (for inner pack) and codes for the GS1 Electronic Product Code™ (EPC) were added to facilitate serialization. Business use case examples have been updated and provided in all documents, and are particularly detailed in the 856 to reflect potential item serialization scenarios.
