Seminar Overview

Throughout the commercial life cycle of almost any pharmaceutical product, changes occur and decisions are made that can be felt across the healthcare supply chain. A new product launch is only the beginning of the product’s life cycle; decisions about packaging, sales force planning, co-marketing arrangements, distribution planning and shipment logistics are made every day. Engage in a practical discussion of key life cycle considerations, including managing products approaching patent expiration, reducing and managing returns and the impact of acquisition and merger activity. Learn how increased communication among trading partners and enhanced practices can save time and money as products meet these inevitable milestones.

GOLDEN YEARS
End of Life Issues
Products that have expired, been discontinued or have to be recalled or withdrawn for a variety of reasons still impact a product’s bottom line, long after their actual return or disposition. Despite the efficiencies that have been built into the reverse logistics process to better account for and manage products that are not dispensed within their useful life, are there still gaps we can address as a supply chain to prevent returns?

This session will explore inventory management questions that arise throughout the supply chain surrounding the location of aging product and visibility into actual stock-keeping units (SKUs).

Potential topics to discuss include:

  • Do we see a way for brands to have demand at the end of their lives?
  • Can packaging decisions upstream actually minimize returns?
  • How does loss of exclusivity impact product availability issues and affect reverse logistics?
  • How are current market dynamics impacting returns policies and practices?
  • Can we ultimately reduce the volume of products that become waste?

Speakers: Scott Bradford, Vice President, Reverse Logistics, McKesson Corporation
Joe Duda, Vice President of Sales Operations, Mylan Pharmaceuticals
Glenn Okoniewski, Senior Manager of Trade Logistics, Eisai, Inc.

12:00 PM-12:30 PM
