Keynote speaker Kevin Ashton will present a case study demonstrating how to apply the principles of relentless, front-line innovation. For example, if you deploy radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies to comply with e-pedigree requirements, how can you ensure it delivers a return on investment?

Managing Cold Chain for Temperature-Sensitive Pharmaceutical Products

The healthcare supply chain exists to safely and efficiently serve more than 145,000 pharmacy settings across the United States. Distributors and manufacturers work together every day to reduce costs and enhance services. But the needs of various customers—and ultimately patients—drive business. This panel discussion, moderated by industry veteran Bob Dufour, provides a look into customer expectations, needs and challenges, and explores how customers view working with the supply chain.
Bob Dufour is COO of Blue Ocean Innovative Solutions and a pharmacist with 24 years of experience at Wal-Mart. He has extensive experience working within the pharmacy industry covering a broad variety of issues, including mail order pharmacy, pharmacy operations, specialty pharmacy, PBMs, third-party contracting, manufacturer programs, professional services and government relations. Dufour currently is the President of the Arkansas Board of Pharmacy. He has received numerous awards and is recognized as a leader in the retail pharmacy industry. Dufour received his BS in Pharmacy from the School of Pharmacy, University of Louisiana at Monroe.

The First 100 Days: A Look into the New Presidential Administration

The first major challenge for any new Administration is the 100-day benchmark. While the new President will have ideas and goals for the first 100 days, there will be numerous hurdles and challenges to overcome. The transition from campaigning to governing is a demanding task, given the intense media focus, party politics and competing priorities. Hear an insider’s perspective on how President-elect Obama is managing the challenging task of leading the nation. Perspectives also will include the necessity of balancing party politics with the need to solve the country’s pressing issues, including energy and healthcare, while offering analysis and observations on the issues and players in the White House and on Capitol Hill.
Howard Fineman is Newsweek’s Senior Washington Correspondent and Columnist, and is one of the nation’s leading political reporters and commentators. Fineman also contributes to the Today Show, MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews and Countdown with Keith Olbermann. He is the author of many Newsweek cover stories, and has interviewed and written about every President and major presidential contender since 1987. He recently published his first book, The Thirteen American Arguments: Enduring Debates That Define and Inspire Our Country. He earned an AB from Colgate University; an MS in Journalism from Columbia University; and a JD from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville.
