HDMA members are an integral part of the influenza vaccine distribution supply chain. Each year, new vaccines are developed and must reach providers and consumers quickly and efficiently to ensure that those who need it the most will have access at critical times. HDMA participates in the National Flu Summit along with representatives from the Centers for Disease Control, The American Medical Association, and other organizations involved in the development and distribution of flu vaccine. The Flu Summit includes approximately 54 organizational stakeholders in influenza vaccine research, production, distribution, and administration, all of whom came together to discuss important issues on influenza vaccine so as to achieve the Healthy People 2010 goals.
