Who We Are

We Deliver Healthcare

The Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA) is the national association representing primary, full-service healthcare distributors. Each business day, HDMA member companies deliver more than nine million prescription medicines and healthcare products to more than 165,000 settings including chain and community pharmacies, hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices and clinics in every state and territory. HDMA and its members are the vital link in the healthcare system, working daily to provide value, remove costs and develop innovative solutions.

We Deliver PATIENT SAFETY
Nearly eighty-five percent of prescription medicines sold in the United States are stored, managed and delivered by HDMA member companies on the way from manufacturers to pharmacy settings. HDMA distributor members work closely with manufacturers, pharmacies and regulators to further ensure the U.S. healthcare supply chain remains secure, efficient and tightly regulated.
We Deliver EFFICIENCY
HDMA members store more than 45,000 healthcare products from an average of 1,400 different manufacturers, keeping pharmacies stocked with the medications and healthcare products that patients need.
We Deliver SAVINGS
Through streamlined, aggregated ordering and efficient shipping logistics, distributors save the nation’s healthcare system nearly $32 billion each year.
We Deliver INNOVATION
HDMA members utilize cutting-edge technologies to further improve safety and security, streamline operations and inventory management, reduce errors and enhance patient health.
We Deliver EMERGENCY RESPONSE
In emergencies, HDMA members leverage their logistics expertise to rapidly deliver medical supplies and disaster aid packages around the clock to affected communities, including portable medical supply kits, 24-hour care hotlines, clinical software and more.
